Erase Hard Drives in Just 5 Seconds – V660 HDD Evo

July 2006 - Verity Systems the world’s leading developer and manufacturer of degaussers and bulk tape erasers today announced the launch of the V660 HDD Evo, a unique, infrared controlled degausser designed for the permanent and safe erasure of hard disc drives.

A degausser erases media by applying a strong magnetic field which destroys all information recorded on the media. The V660 HDD Evo has a very powerful, concentrated magnetic field which ensures that hard disc drives are erased in just 5 seconds. Whilst in most cases this will render the hard drive inoperative, the cost of a replacement hard drive cannot be compared to the cost to a company if sensitive information can be read by a third party.

Operation is simple. Hard disc drives are placed into the V660’s receptacle, the lid is closed and the degauss button pressed. What’s more, with safety in mind, the V660 HDD Evo is the only hard disc drive degausser that can also be operated remotely via an infrared control from a distance of up to 15 meters. For added security, the V660 can be locked in the infrared operating position so that unauthorised usage cannot take place.
